Tornado Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning affecting the entire campus. This warning means there is immediate danger for the campus, and that a tornado or funnel cloud has been spotted approaching the area. Move to a designated safe spot or interior portion of the closest building immediately. Monitor weather reports via TV or radio. Please share this information with individuals in your work and classroom area.
Phone Scam Alert

Campus authorities are aware of an ongoing phone scam impacting members of the campus community. The scam call comes from a phone number that appears to be from the University of Arkansas Police Department (UAPD) or another University department. The caller states they are with the University, sometimes using the names of actual University officials/employees. The caller then attempts to obtain bank account information from individuals who answer. Some of these calls include mentions of going to a secluded place to discuss a narcotics investigation and that arrests will be made if bank account information is not provided.
Please DO NOT provide any personal information to this caller if you receive a call.
Safety Warning
Feb. 9, 2026 - 2:50 pm
UAPD is investigating a report of a robbery that occurred Monday, Feb. 9 at 2 pm near Bell Engineering Center and Science-Engineering Hall. The suspect is described as a male with light/fair complexion wearing a purple shirt and last seen running south. If you encounter this individual, use caution and contact UAPD at 9-1-1 or 479-575-2222, or via the SafeZone app.
Update: Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 3:08 p.m.
The matter was reviewed with the alleged victim, and it was determined that no crime had occurred.
General Safety Suggestions
As part of general safety suggestions, everyone is reminded to stay alert. When traversing the campus, always be aware of your surroundings. Stay alert for anyone approaching you or your vehicle. As an additional safety precaution, if you are going out, you are encouraged to go out in groups or call for an escort.

Normal Operations

We appreciate our campus community’s patience and flexibility during the recent winter storm. University crews have been working diligently to make our campus safe and accessible for reopening.
With that said, the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville campus will resume normal operations on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026. All in-person classes, campus services, offices and activities will return to their standard schedules.

WxALERT: Due to snow and sleet accumulation, difficulty navigating roads and sidewalks,
and temperatures well below freezing expected, the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville
campus will continue inclement weather operations on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026.
A decision about Tuesday’s operating status will be communicated late Monday as the
Inclement Weather Team continues to monitor the situation closely. Updates and other

Early Dismissal
Jan. 22 2025 - 5:06 p.m.
WxALERT: With the potential of snow, sleet and freezing temperatures in the forecast for tomorrow, the university will have an early dismissal at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23 . If conditions worsen, an additional update will be provided.
The university will shift to Inclement Weather Operations at least through Sunday with significant accumulation anticipated.
Our Inclement Weather Team is monitoring the situation closely. On Sunday evening, you will receive an update regarding Monday’s operating status.

We understand that each of our situations is different, so please make the best decisions for your safety. Faculty are encouraged to be flexible with student situations and supervisors are encouraged to be flexible with employee situations. The campus community can expect the following during the early dismissal:
- All on-campus classes at and after 3 p.m. will be cancelled. However, instructors can choose to conduct classes remotely but must follow the additional guidance listed below.
- Razorback Transit will continue to operate up to one hour after campus closes, weather permitting. If a bus is needed to return home, please visit Union Station as soon as possible or call 479-575-7433. Transit service will not be in operation on Saturday, Jan. 24 and Sunday, Jan. 25. Saferide will also not be in operation. Check the Passio GO! app or the Razorback Transit webpage for bus updates.
- IT Services, Blackboard Help, University Recreation, Dining, Arkansas Union, and Mullins Library will continue to operate with reduced hours.
- Employees who are designated as “Essential On-Site Personnel” are expected to remain at work or report to work as regularly scheduled, unless directed otherwise by their supervisor.
- Employees who are not designated as “Essential On-Site Personnel” will be dismissed to go home. Employees may conduct work remotely after the early dismissal but are not required to.

Class Guidance During an Early Dismissal
Since weather is not expected to impact internet connectivity or power, and in order to minimize the impact on student learning, instructors of on-campus courses scheduled to begin after the early dismissal are allowed to conduct classes through synchronous distance instruction (remote via Zoom or another approved medium) at the scheduled class time , but shall not require a student to attend synchronously. Instructors may also choose to make up missed class time using recorded lectures, assignments, readings, instructional materials or other alternative delivery methods.
Online courses will continue as regularly scheduled without any alteration.
Any on-campus class taught through synchronous distance instruction (remote) after an early dismissal must be recorded and made available to all students in the class in Blackboard. Instructors must provide students the opportunity to make up work due after an early dismissal without penalty. No examinations shall be administered after an early dismissal.
Employee Guidance During an Early Dismissal
Employees who are designated as “Essential On-Site Personnel” are expected to remain at work or report to work as regularly scheduled, unless directed otherwise by their supervisor. Essential staff who are required to report to campus during inclement weather must record their time accurately in Workday.
Employees who are not designated as “Essential On-Site Personnel” will be dismissed to go home. Employees may conduct work remotely after the early dismissal but are not required to. Non-weather essential employees who have shifts beginning after the designated early dismissal time should not report to work.
Please check with your supervisor if you are unsure of your work status during inclement weather operations.

Tornado Siren Repaired, Operating Normally

The Outdoor Warning System or ’tornado siren’ on campus is once again operating normally. The system was repaired late this week after briefly being out of service.

The Outdoor Warning System or ’tornado siren’ on campus is currently out of service. A specialized technician is coming from out of state Thursday, Nov. 20 to repair. With rain and potential storms in the forecast starting late Wed., Nov. 19, please monitor local weather forecasts and updates. If a tornado warning is issued for campus, the university will alert the campus community via a RazALERT notification (email, work phone and text/mobile for those who have provided that information in Workday).
National Outage Impacting Website Access

Reduced Water Pressure/No Water

Campus Notification (Urgent): Please continue to be patient as City of Fayetteville crews respond to a water line break impacting our campus. We will provide additional information as soon as it becomes available.

Campus Notification (Urgent): Multiple campus buildings including the Arkansas Union, Mullins Library, Pat Walker Health Center and some residence halls are currently experiencing reduced water pressure or may be without water due to a City of Fayetteville water line break. City crews are working to repair the water line break. We do not yet have an estimated time of repair.
Heavy Rain/Flooding

Campus Notification (Inclement Weather): The University of Arkansas – Fayetteville campus will be open today. With heavy rains and some flooding in the area, students, faculty and staff should exercise caution when travelling. Please have consideration for anyone who is not able to make it to class and or work.
In-person classes in the Graduate Education and Chemistry buildings will not meet today. Faculty will have the option to conduct those classes remotely. Instructors in those buildings may conduct classes through synchronous distance instruction (remote via Zoom or another approved medium) at the scheduled class time, but shall not require a student to attend synchronously.
Active Threat

RazALERT: After investigating multiple reports, police have not confirmed any active threats on campus at this time. Avoid, deny, defend protocols have been lifted at this time while police continue to patrol campus, but please be vigilant. Due to today's events, classes are cancelled for the remainder of day, but will resume Tuesday. Students are free to leave campus at this time if desired. Housing and most dining services remain open. Razorback Transit plans to continue routes.

Disturbing Text Message

UAPD has received a report of a student receiving a concerning text message from an unknown and unaffiliated phone number. The message included language that threatened the safety of the student and others within the Black student population on campus. It has been confirmed that these types of messages are being sent to numerous individuals around the country and are not isolated to the campus. UAPD is continuing to communicate with our Federal partners in law enforcement in an effort to identify those responsible for sending the messages.

UPDATE: Graffiti and Vandalism
UAPD Security Officers located graffiti written on the second level stairwell of the
Harmon Avenue Parking Garage. The graffiti was removed. If anyone has information

UAPD received a report of a deceased male near the Stadium Avenue parking deck after 8 pm Thursday, June 20. The person was not affiliated with the University. No foul play is suspected.

The City of Fayetteville Prosecutor’s Office has officially charged two individuals
in relation to the incident that occurred at Old Main earlier this month.

UPDATE: Graffiti and Vandalism in Old Main
University of Arkansas Police have identified and interviewed two potential suspects
in connection to an after-hours incident that included graffiti and vandalism in Old
Main. The case has now been referred to the City of Fayetteville Prosecutor’s Office
as well as the university’s Office of Student Standards and Conduct for review.

Fulbright College reported an isolated but troubling incident of after-hours vandalism that occurred Thursday, June 6th inside Old Main involving a derogatory comment and a swastika. UAPD is investigating. If additional information becomes available, it will be posted here.

The University’s longstanding practice has been to prohibit political campaign signs and banners in Athletic events. This includes a prohibition on placing signage on University property or attaching such signage to campus elements. This prohibition is viewpoint neutral and applies without regard to party, candidate, or issue.
More generally, use of signage on campus is restricted under the University’s facilities use policies, including but not limited to Fayetteville Policies and Procedures 708.0, 723.0, and 804.1.
This information is important background for an incident that occurred last week.
On Friday, April 5th, 2024, an Officer contacted an individual who was flying a political candidate flag in the Hog Pen area of Baum Baseball Stadium. The Officer first noticed the flag at 8:30 pm and advised Allied Security that he would wait to make contact until authorization had been received. Allied Security stated Athletics representatives advised the flag could not be flown. The Officer advised the individual to take the flag down and told the individual if the flag was raised again, he would be removed from the game.
Approximately 20 minutes later, the Officer noticed the flag raised again. The Officer, Allied Security and other officers approached the individual again. A second officer informed the individual that the flag needed to come down and the individual said if the officer would give him her knife he would cut it down. The Officer did not feel comfortable giving up her knife but told him that she could cut it off the pole for him. As they discussed, the individual told the officer on multiple occasions that he was okay with her removing the flag for him. The officer cut the ties holding the flag and removed the flag from the pole. The flag was placed outside the gate so the individual could pick it up on the way out. The flag was not damaged and only the ties were cut.
The individual, after being told he could return inside, continued to question and challenge the officers. A supervisor subsequently informed the individual he had to leave the game and he was more than welcome to attend the next game on the following day. The individual left the venue, with his flag, and no more contact was had with him.

north side of the football stadium. The flyers were photographed and removed. If anyone

University Police Department received information on Saturday, March 5 from a staff
member at the Arkansas Union who, on Wednesday, March 2, discovered a flyer in a recycling
bin seemingly related to the Campus Notification added March 2, 2022. The recycling
bin was located on the third level of the Arkansas Union near a computer desk.

Campus Concern: Flyer Posting
The University Police Department is aware of the recent posting of unauthorized messages
on campus and in the region by some unidentified individual(s). The messages include
the web site of a non-affiliated organization that has been identified as a hate group,
which we do not condone. Facilities Management staff members and UAPD officers have
removed and will continue to remove messages like these when found. Stickers, posters
and other messaging from non-affiliated entities violates our campus signage policy
and are removed when reported.

The safety of our campus community is our top priority. We hope our students and our
campus community know that the university always has their best interests at heart.

UAPD was made aware of a scam targeting parents/family members of a small group of students. The scam includes asking parents/family members to send money through an online app such as Venmo or CashApp under the premise that their student has been arrested and that University Police are calling because bail is required to get the student released. This scam and several variations have been around for years. Law enforcement agencies will never ask citizens to send money. The Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission offer information on scams and spoofing phone numbers to help protect citizens from scams. If anyone has information regarding ongoing scams, or has been victimized, contact your local police department. Campus community members should contact UAPD at 479-575-2222.

Campus Concern: Social Media Posting
After the university was made aware of a video posted on social media accounts depicting
what appears to be a staged accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle, the university
looked into the posting. It appears that the video was staged and was not recorded
on campus. In addition, our understanding is that the individual shown is not a University
of Arkansas student.
